Understanding my Professional and Legal Boundaries
It is essential for clients to understand the legal boundaries of my role as a Registered Veterinary Technician. I am not authorized to diagnose illnesses or medical conditions, provide prognoses, prescribe medications, or administer medications unless they have been specifically prescribed by a veterinarian for the animal receiving the service.

Additionally, I am unable to perform services that require veterinarian approval or oversight without proper documentation. This approval can be provided through a written letter, discharge instructions, email to you or me, or a direct phone conversation with your pet’s veterinarian. Any written documentation must include clear instructions, the date, your name, your pet’s name, and details of the requested services. It should also list the veterinarian’s name, the veterinary clinic or hospital name, and the veterinarian’s email for result forwarding.
